The owners of Mimosa Handcrafted and Wanderlust by Abby have together purchased a vacant Government Street property across from Electric Depot, according to property records.
Documents show the two businesses—Mimosa by Me LLC, which is managed by Madeline and Richard Ellis, and Bullock Energy Inc., managed by John and Abby Bullock of Wanderlust by Abby—recently created 1464 Government LLC to buy the property for $465,000, or $116 per square foot.
However, plans for the property (which includes a building) remain uncertain. Madeline Ellis says she, her husband, Richard, and the Bullocks have “a lot of different ideas about what to do” and are currently weighing all options.
“We’re trying to stay open about what would be the best option for us to take, so we’re being cautious,” she tells Daily Report. “We’re not in a rush to figure it out yet, we just knew that we wanted to invest in this part of the city. If we’re going to put our energy and resources anywhere, it’s going to be here.”
This is not the first time the two local retailers have partnered. Wanderlust by Abby, a boutique with online, pop-up and brick-and-mortar operations that specializes in accessories, sells consignment jewelry from Mimosa Handcrafted.
As for why the two couples decided to make the investment together, Madeline Ellis says they’ve worked well together for the past six-plus years and are “on the same wavelength.”
No permits had been filed for the building by this morning’s deadline.
