No landlines: Fifteen percent of Louisiana households only have cell phones and no landlines, according to estimates from the National Center for Health Statistics. That put Louisiana 27th on a list of cell-only households by state and the District of Columbia. Oklahoma had the highest number of homes with only cell phones, with 26.2% not having a landline. Vermont had the lowest number of cell-only households at 5.1%.
In training: Obea Moore, 30, of Los Angeles, who auditioned in Baton Rouge for Gatorade’s Quest for G Web reality show for amateur athletes, has made the program. Casting Director Brinkley Maginnis says Moore, a track runner, and fellow contestant Phillippe Kozub, 33, a triathlete formerly from New Orleans, both completed boot camp for the competition. Kozub didn’t make the next round, but Moore was selected for the program. Moore will get two months of professional training beginning in April in California and compete with seven fellow athletes for the opportunity to go pro. The Baton Rouge audition, held in January, drew nearly 60 applicants.
