Back in business: Academy Sports + Outdoors, 9997 Crossing Way, Suite 800, is the latest Denham Springs store to announce a reopen date. The store, located at Juban Crossing, has been closed for repairs since the August flood. The national retailer in a news release says it will reopen Tuesday with a check presentation to the Capital Area United Way, and plans to host a private shopping event for 30 Southside Elementary School students. It will reopen to the public at 5 a.m., Nov. 25, for Black Friday. Approximately 90% of Juban Crossing retailers and restaurants are expected to be reopened by Thanksgiving.
In support: The Baton Rouge Union of Police has endorsed Mack “Bodi” White for Baton Rouge mayor. According to a news release, the union’s attorney noted White’s “support of its members and issues related to police officers.” White, a Republican, is a former law enforcement officer. He’s also secured the endorsement of former foe, Metro Councilman John Delgado. White faces Democrat Sharon Weston Broome in the Dec. 10 runoff. Last week, U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond endorsed Broome for mayor.
Disbanded: Apple Inc. has disbanded its division that develops wireless routers, another move to try to sharpen the company’s focus on consumer products that generate the bulk of its revenue, according Bloomberg. Apple began shutting down the wireless router team over the past year, dispersing engineers to other product development groups, including the one handling Apple TV. The decision to disband the team indicates the company isn’t currently pushing forward with new versions of its routers. An Apple spokeswoman declines to comment on the company’s plans.
