New subdivision planned east of Baker

A new 161-lot subdivision is being planned for an area east of Baker, off Old Scenic Highway.
The proposed subdivision, Miraval, is being developed by CKB Development LLP and is slated to go before the Planning Commission at its Sept. 17 meeting.
Each lot would be around 6,000 square feet, according to the application.
CKB chose the location because of its “convenience” to downtown Baton Rouge, Exxon and other plants, as well as its proximity to newer commercial developments in Zachary, says Cody Fortier, manager of CKB Development.
Details, such as home amenities and price points have yet to be finalized, but the neighborhood will have two parks, one larger in size with a playground.
If approved by the Planning Commission, the project, because it requires a zoning change, would then need the OK of the Metro Council before moving forward. If all goes as planned, Fortier estimates work on the subdivision to begin in early 2019.
