Corporate Brew & Draft closed after about three years in business at Citiplace this weekend, according to a Facebook post from the bar.
“Due to failure to reach a new lease agreement, this will be the final weekend at CBD,” reads the post, which goes on to thank “everyone who’s supported a craft beer bar in Baton Rouge.” According to a later post, the bar opened for its final weekend at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Carmen Austin of Saurage Rotenberg Commercial Real Estate, the property’s leasing agent, could not be reached for comment this morning.
The non-smoking bar, which opened in 2015 next door to The Cove at Citiplace Court, offered more than 100 beers on tap, with 33 of those dedicated to breweries from Louisiana and Mississippi. Featuring a pool room and arcade, it was the brainchild of Tom Ange, who also owns The Cove.
Another bar and restaurant in the shopping center, The Pelican House, recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. It had a five-year lease in place and a $12,741.75 monthly rent when it closed earlier this year, with its owner citing “a difficult location, unforeseen lease conditions, and unforeseen costly building repairs.”
