The owners of Blue Bayou and Dixie Landin’ have purchased nearly 12 acres of land off Perkins Road from the Kleinpeter family for overflow parking for the parks.

In two separate deals filed with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s Office Wednesday afternoon, Mary Alice Kleinpeter Mallett, Sue Anne Kleinpeter Cox and Kenny Kleinpeter sold three tracts—3.1, 3.7 and 5.1 acres—to Haynes Interests, represented by the parks’ owners, Sam and Kathy Haynes.

The price listed for each is $10 and other cash and valuable considerations.

Liz Haynes Harrison, director of marketing, media and entertainment for Blue Bayou and Dixie Landin’, says the only plan for the property right now is for overflow parking.

She declines to say how much Haynes Interests paid for the property.

The municipal address for the 3.1-acre tract is 18366 Perkins Road, which sits adjacent to the water park at 18142 Perkins Road. The other two tracts do not have addresses, according to the court documents.

Kenny Kleinpeter says the property fronts Perkins Road and is currently vacant, save for possibly one old house. He says that property has been in the Kleinpeter family for years and that the Haynes family approached them about making a deal.

“I think he’s been after that piece for many years,” he says.
