Hope Academy acquires school site for $1.1 million

Greater Baton Rouge Hope Academy has acquired the 2-acre property at 15333 Jefferson Highway that it has been leasing since opening there in 2007. In a deal that closed Tuesday, the school acquired the property for $1.1 million from its longtime owners, Fred and Susan Kramer, who previously operated Gables Academy on the site.

School President Brandon Black says the Kramers were ready to sell the property and the school was anxious to purchase it for several reasons.

“It is great for the school because it gives us a home base where we can grow and develop, and it also helps us with our cash flow,” Black says. “It provides a future for us. We have a place to be for as long as we want to be there.”

Hope Academy is a non-denominational private school that specializes in serving students with learning disabilities, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, down syndrome, cognitive disabilities and dyslexia. It has 160 students in grades K-12. It also has young adult programs for students up to age 21.
