Eight Louisiana schools made it to Forbes’ list of 650 top colleges in the U.S.
The rankings place LSU as top public college in the state, checking in at No. 195 overall and 36th in the South. Tulane University was named the top private college in Louisiana, 109th overall and 19th in the South.
Forbes says the list is created by measuring students’ success after college relative to the amount of debt the average student takes on and the schools’ tuition prices. The Forbes list doesn’t measure SAT scores or acceptance rates.
Louisiana Tech was listed as No. 409 in the U.S., while Loyola University of New Orleans was 475th. The University of Louisiana Lafayette, Centenary College of Louisiana, University of New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana University were also made the ratings. Southern University was not among the top 650.
