Equipment dealer buys Airline Highway site in $1 million-plus deal

Vermeer Texas-Louisiana, a heavy equipment dealer, is expanding its local presence with the acquisition of a 3.46-acre site at 12131 Airline Highway. In a deal that closed Wednesday, Vermeer purchased the property for $1.07 million from Waguespack Oil Co. of Thibodaux. Waguespack had owned the site for several years. Matthew Laborde of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate represented both parties in the transaction.

Vermeer is a 37-year-old company that sells new and used construction equipment. Its Texas-Louisiana dealership has 15 locations, including one in Denham Springs. Local manager Don Armstrong says the company will build a new, larger facility at the Airline Highway site, enabling it to expand its footprint and better-serve its growing customer base.

“We are very optimistic about this area,” Armstrong says. “There is a lot going on in our line of business. We did $8 million worth of business last year—this year I’m budgeting for $10 million … so we’re not huge but we’re doing well.”
