A few more details on the Crispy Catch seafood restaurant under development in the former Kean’s Fine Dry Cleaning building near the Perkins Road overpass trickled out today from the owners, who until now have remained tight-lipped about the highly anticipated eatery.
Though a specific opening date has not yet been announced, the owners say the restaurant will be open this spring and will feature indoor and patio seating, as well as a separate check-out area for take-out orders.
“Crispy Catch will be the first fast-casual restaurant showcasing the flavors of Southern Louisiana,” reads a press release issued by Tyler Pizzolato today. The release goes on to describe three “signature boxes” the restaurant will offer—catfish, fish tacos and boudin.
Tyler Pizzolato is the son of Tracie and Cliff Pizzolato, who acquired the iconic Kean’s building in May 2014 for $564,219 from Frank Kean. Cliff Pizzolato is estranged from his siblings, who are the owners and operators of the popular Tony’s Seafood market in north Baton Rouge and the Louisiana Fish Fry Products company.
“At Crispy Catch, we know authentic southern cooking means we never compromise on flavor or quality,” Tyler Pizzolato says in today’s release. “We take the extra steps in creating our own handmade sauces and batters so you can savor that one-of-a-kind southern flavor in each delicious bite.” —Steve Sanoski
