Jan. 26 — MidSouth Bank will hold a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. at its Corporate Boulevard branch. The bank is holding the meetings to let small business owners know it is proactively lending money in order to stimulate the economy. MidSouth recently sold $20 million worth of shares to the U.S. Treasury as part of the federal financial bailout plan.
Jan. 28 — The Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Forum 35 are sponsoring “An Opportunity Affair” at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the foundation’s downtown offices. The event is design to let young professionals know about job openings, internships, volunteer opportunities and cultural events going on across the city. Jan. 31 — The Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a community town hall meeting from 9 a.m. to noon. The event, which will be held at the Living Faith Christian Center on Winbourne Avenue, will help to create an actionable plan and policy agenda to guide the BRBCC’s efforts for 2009.
