Amedisys to become largest personal care provider in Massachusetts

Associated Home Care, a subsidiary of Baton Rouge-based home health services provider Amedisys, is acquiring Worcester, Massachusetts-based Home Staff, making the Baton Rouge company the largest personal care provider in the New England state.

Amedisys did not disclose financial details of the deal, which is expected to close on Feb. 1, 2017. Under the terms of the agreement, Associated Home Care will acquire all of Home Staff’s assets from Fallon Health and the VNA Care Network.

The acquisition of Home Staff is Amedisys’ third transaction in Massachusetts this year. Earlier this year, it acquired Boston-based Associated Home Care and Danvers-based Professional Profiles.

“Once this transaction is completed, collectively, the Amedisys’ Personal Care Division will have 2,500 aides providing care to 15,000 clients annually at home throughout Massachusetts—making us the largest personal care provider in the state,” President of Amedisys Personal Care Mike Trigilio says in a prepared statement.

Home Staff was founded in 1977. It offers professional nurses, chore workers, companions, transportation, personal care assistants, certified nursing assistants and homemakers to clients to encourage daily independent living. The company delivers care to 3,500 clients per year and generates approximately $10.5 million in annualized revenues.
