Baton Rouge-based Performance Contractors is set to move forward with plans to build a new headquarters on Pecue Lane after the city-parish greenlighted the construction plans for the first structure in a three-building complex the company intends to build.
The office building scheduled to go up first will be 41,000 square feet and will have three stories, according to the permit. The city-parish also approved the plan for a 4,144-square-foot chiller plant also slated to be built.
The price tag for both projects is roughly $8 million total, records show.
The three-story building is the first of three in Performance Contractors’ master plan. The new complex will be built next to Performance Contractor’s current location at 9901 Pecue Lane, near the intersection of Pecue Lane and Perkins Road.
According to designs submitted to the Planning Commission, the total 4.8-acre development will consist of three buildings slightly more than 300,000 square feet combined.
About half of that square footage will be for a parking garage in the middle building. The rest of the space will be offices, and a small percentage in the middle building will be set aside for a gym and café.
A company representative says the firm will release more details on the project later this week.
In March 2015, when the company submitted its application for the new headquarters to the city-parish Planning Commission, Chris Town, a subcontract manager for the company, told Daily Report that all three buildings will not be built at once.
Performance Contractors is one of the area’s top industrial contractors, coming in third in last year’s annual Top 100 listing by Business Report, with roughly $1.25 billion in revenue in 2014. The company, founded in 1979, handles a wide range of services, including pipe fabrication, installation, welding and civil projects.
