The unsynchronized traffic lights are a big problem. And there are not enough right turning-lanes (ex. Perkins-Acadian + many others) There is simply not enough traffic flow; to much "stop and go". All the widening of these major streets are greatly hindered by all of this.

This is the letter I sent to the Library Board....

A proposed new Southdowns branch library at the Rouzan TND off Perkins Road is a “GREAT” idea!! It will be within “walking” distance of thousands of residents in the surrounding neighborhoods. The village-like setting would be an added bonus.

The Burbank location for the library would be a big mistake! Only accessible by “car”. With the price of Gas going only up in the future; this would not be a good idea.

I have no agenda and I am not associated with anybody. I live across town in the Millerville/I-12 area; and only wish that a Rouzan “type” development would have been built nearby at the old Fairwood Country Club. I do work at the nearby Lee HS.

It’s a shame a few vocal people can be so relentless to the point that the Burbank site be considered once again; especially when they are the main cause for delays. Please move Baton Rouge forward and not backwards!

It's ashame, but true...Baton Rouge is a big-town/over-grown country town/with a giant suburban mentality. It's trying to become a legit mid-sized city; but it's been painfully slow!

Hopefully downtown BR will continue to become more vibrant. Years back I have have seen it where it was really dead! But the past year or so weekends you can see more & more activity! The Shaw Arts Center and Hilton Capitol Center have been a nice start. Third Street is also starting to take-off as well. Though a few are in the works, more residential loft options are still needed downtown + grocery store.

If downtown want's to become an official Arts & Entertainment District they need to change the silly ordinance with billboards. Lamar, from here right in our own back yard would love nothing more than to put up a "digital" billboard on "bracing-brackets" on the side of the Third Street/Convention Street parking garage. The digital billboard would really compliment the retro Coca-Cola sign and the cool new Schlittz & Giggles sign just a block away!!!

The new Avenue E bowling alley/Cinema entertainment complex would be a great idea for downtown. But if I had to bet it would probably be built in Esplanade off Corporate/College/I-10 instead!

Something like Perkins Rowe sure would be nice somewhere around downtown too, and not 9 or 10 miles away.

Downtown ha come a long way; as has Baton Rouge. But we still got a long way to go.

I understand where JR is coming from. Ain't it funny the other two boats only begin to make improvements after hearing of new competition. But still an easy choice for me.

Since I don't gamble anyway; I'm voting "NO" for a few reasons: The pathetic choice for location(BTW I live opposite side of EBR).If it were Downtown(or just South of I-10 Bridge)I might would reconsider.

Pinnacle flaunts itself on TV-commercials with it's gleaming high-rise hotel in Lake Charles while Baton Rouge get's a "micro"-hotel. "Apple's to Raisins". The 750-rooms became 400-rooms down to this(100)?? In Shreveport-Bossier City all 5 (or more?) casino's are ALL within eye-viewing distance from each other. You can thank Texas for those gleaming hotel towers too! No body from Texas is coming to suburbia BR to a golf/corse...so called resort that may never be built supposedly in Phase II??

Thanks J.R. and Thanks Camm. He's sure is a bold visionary and a class act! He has helped take Baton Rouge to another level! He has been so successful in other cities; I'm glad he was able to make his way to our city.

Bonne Carre is a huge success and helped revitalize the Florida Blvd. coridor on the eastern edges of Mid City. The Hilton Capitol Center was the icing on the cake. A key componet in making Downtown what it needs to be! The Brownstones and One Eleven will bring more residents too!

Acadian Village is another excellent idea for the old Wal-Mart! Mixed-use developments are where it's at!

Hopefully Arden can happen one day. This would be a very important/smart infil project!

I wish Laurel Tower would have happened. It definetly would have helped bulk-up BR's malnutritioned skyline and added much needed parking! But that's O.K. the other projects far outweigh this.

Good fortune for Camm in the future!

On Thanks, Camm

Good to see Towne Center business park continue to grow! Could the new Republic Finance HQ's be a multi-story office building?? There are plenty of small bank branches popping up at the business park. I was hoping a significant office building(like in CitiPlace) would be in the future plans.

What about Wampold's struggle for so many years with the NIMBY's and the Crescent condos at University Lake?? Look how nice that looks across from BR Beach! Why did they fight that?? What did they want there?? Many people in BR have a suburban mentalty; but just don't realize it. If it's multi-story that must mean it's a high-rise.

Only more of the same ole' boring Frech faux pas style will do; it's in characteristic with the area crap! I sure am glad Perkins Rowe was built. BR is really is taking it to another level, trying to become a legit mid-size city!

I understand your frustration fisheye. I wish a new TND would be built at the Fairwood CC on Millerville I-12. But instead another "single" entrance strip shopping center on one side; and a "single" entrance subdivision on the Old Hammond Hwy. side. At least Millerville is being 5-laned. Could Lee Drive possibly be 4-laned with narrow medians??

I know JR is a big fan of the single-entrance cookie-cutter subdivision, ha just kiddin'! Break out some more street grid please!

Hopefully opponets will have a realistic compromise. Spinosa seems to have a bend, but-dont-break attitude.

The Ford Pasture deserves something special. Rouzan will be just that! This is critical in-fil near the urban core. Amazing the capital city has to look at a more progressive city like Lafayette for tips. River Ranch is in-fil for those who do not know. BR's 1st TND Willow Grove(still being built) is between two neighborhoods and will be successful! Other TND's are in the works like the 200 acre Arden(north of Bonne Carre); also critical infil.

So true, no city the size of BR has the amount of large undeveloped tracts of land in the middle of the city; the sprawl has been out of control. BR has seems to have more suburban characteristics than urban. 4-story buildings in the village section around the library near Perkins should not be a problem!

Please not another boring single entrance cookie cutter subdivision. That's been the problem all along; making for overburdened feeder roads like Perkins. This property is too special for that!

A walking path/bike trail would be a great idea along the Bayou Duplantier urban watershed! Run it from University Lake/BR Beach behind Southdowns and Rouzan out to Olympia Park on Kenilworth!

I am thankful for innovative developers like Spinosa and Wampold who for many years diligently persued something special eventhough the neighborhood association fought him tooth-n-nail; the Crescent condo's at University Lake give BR the city look it deserves!
