Soft-spoken, with a gentle laugh but solid sense of purpose, Richard Lipsey is a man of many accomplishments. His office is his walk down memory lane, filled with collections of items that hold personal meaning from his business, civic, conservation and philanthropic efforts. “Unfortunately I’m not the neatest person in the world,” admits Lipsey, chairman of firearms distributor Lipsey’s. “When we moved in our building almost three years ago, I said, ‘I’m not going to clutter up anything.’ But you know how that goes.” Personal photos line the window sills and walls beside the desk. They include hunting photos of Lipsey and his daughters, Laurie and Wendy; his office companions Byrde and Joe, yellow labs (named after his wife’s deceased parents) that usually come to work with him; and Lipsey and his wife, Susan, with Gov. John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Edwards. On the far wall above his degrees is a picture of Lipsey with now-Sen. Bill Cassidy, Susan and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, when he was running for president. Scroll on the image below for more on Lipsey’s office.
