Legislature votes to create road use fee for hybrid, electric vehicle drivers

A bill ending the free ride for electric and hybrid vehicle owners—who don’t pay gas taxes at the same rate as other drivers—on Louisiana roads won final passage in the Legislature on Sunday, setting the stage for the first road use fees in the state.
