Developer Mike Wampold has launched a new outdoor advertising campaign in an effort to sell the final units in the Crescent at University Lakes Condominiums, the 165-unit complex on Stanford Avenue near LSU that he developed in 2008.
Though electronic billboards are not typically the preferred method to market high-end condos, Wampold says he has used billboards before, though without much success. He has also advertised the condos in newspapers, alumni magazines, and on TV. Six years later, 20 units remain—about 12% of the total.
“The condo market is kind of slow right now,” he says. “We’ve sold 10 this year, which isn’t bad, but it’s slow now.”
Wampold says additional promotions are planned for the weekend of the LSU-Alabama game on Nov. 8, which will draw large crowds to campus. Another marketing push is planned for the spring. The remaining units are three-bedroom, three-bath and average $550,000. —Stephanie Riegel
