More retail for Ascension: A nearly 3-acre tract on Airline Highway in Prairieville has been sold for $843,000 to a local doctor who plans to build a 24,000-square-foot shopping center on the site. Gboloo Enterprises, a company led by Dr. David Gboloo, bought the land south of Tommy Moore Road in a deal that closed last week. Kelly Allen, an agent with NAI/Latter & Blum, who represented the seller and buyer, says the plan is to start building a shopping center in the next three months. Allen says the center is “somewhat speculative,” but several tenants are looking at the site, including a barbecue restaurant, a veterinary clinic and a convenience store.
Alleva settles down in University Club: LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva has purchased a home in University Club. According to court filings, Alleva and his wife, Annie, paid $699,500 for the home on Memorial Tower Drive. They bought the 3,873-square-foot home from builder Ken Montgomery.
China One joining CC’s, Subway: Bluebonnet Square, a 42,000-square-foot shopping center at Bluebonnet Boulevard and Airline Highway, has signed another tenant. China One will open a restaurant in the center, along with CC’s Community Coffee House, Subway and Elgin’s Fine Jewelry, according to developer Darren Aschaffenburg. Once the nearby Party Time store opens in the spring, around the same time as the first tenants in Bluebonnet Square, Aschaffenburg says, that should attract more retailers.
