Plan to bring locomotive repair shop on site: An 11.5-acre industrial site between Choctaw Drive and Chippewa Street has been sold for $1.8 million. AK Marchand bought the site across the street from Exxon, says Louis Barcelona Jr. of Triangle Realty Company, who was the selling agent. Keith Marchand of Marchand Machinery, the new owner, says he plans to continue leasing out the 180,000-square-foot facility. Marchand will occupy about 40,000 square feet. The shop will repair locomotive engines that Marchand leases out to chemical plants and will create five to 10 new jobs
National firm making more of an impact in B.R. The national civil and criminal law firm started by the late high-profile attorney Johnnie Cochran is expanding its Baton Rouge presence. The Cochran Firm has purchased an office condominium in the Reserve at Cedar Lodge for $136,500 in a deal that was filed last week. Darryl Phillips, managing partner and owner of Cochran’s New Orleans offices, says the location near Corporate Boulevard will allow attorneys to meet with clients and experts and have a base to work out of during trials.
