Programming will now start in the 1000s: Cox Communications moved its lineup of high-definition channels today. Instead of starting in the 700s, the HD channels are now in the 1000s. The move doesn’t affect customers who have their digital video recorders set to record programs in HD; the presets will automatically move to the correct channel. Cox moved its HD lineup to provide room for 46 HD Music Choice channels it will add. The move gives local Cox subscribers access to 129 HD channels, with additional channels planned.
Get your motor running: State officials say the speed limit on a rural portion of Interstate 49 in DeSoto Parish will be raised from 70 mph to 75 mph. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says the new speed limit will go into effect in the next two weeks. The new speed limit will be in effect from 1.5 miles south of the La. Highway 175 interchange to the Natchitoches Parish line. DOTD officials say the highway features on this section of roadway can safely accommodate higher speeds.
