Payroll HR Tip of the Week, sponsored by Highflyer Payroll: Hurricane crisis contingency & checklist

As Louisiana recently experienced, a hurricane can cause life and property threatening hazards such as flooding, storm surge, and high winds. Being properly prepared is one of the best safeguards against the dangers of a hurricane and helps to minimize potential damage to your company. Highflyer has prepared a Hurricane Crisis Contingency and Checklist to assist in your planning.

First, assign roles and responsibilities to key staff members. You should have designated employees that manage the communication, recovery and restoration process after a business interruption has occurred due to a hurricane with a focus on business operations and restoring the physical location.

Second, review your hurricane preparedness checklist annually, preferably before June 1st each year. During your review, you will assign specific tasks to each key staff member.
