A retail concept under development on Third Street called Plantriarch will offer workshops and coworking spaces as well as plants for sale.
Designer James Curtis, who moved from Phoenix to Baton Rouge with his wife six months ago, says there are studies that show that having plants in the office can help increase the productivity and creativity of a company’s workforce.
His store focuses on biophilic design, a design principle that incorporates natural lighting and vegetation into a modern setting, such as an office. His aim is for the concept to offer an “out of the office experience.”
Alongside the retail component of his new business, Curtis will also offer consultation services for businesses looking to incorporate biophilic design into their own offices.
Plantriarch is expected to open the first week of October.
