Health Tip of the Week, sponsored by Baton Rouge General: Do you feel like your kid is always sick?

How often is too often for your child to be sick? Potential underlying reasons for recurring illnesses like colds, strep throat and ear infections vary, depending on the illness, the child and the circumstances. The common cold is the most frequent illness for kids. Five or six colds per year is average, and up to 10 is still in normal range. Two ear infections per year up to age three and having strep throat once a year is also considered normal. So the bottom line is don’t fret if your child is sick almost every month of the year!
