Baton Rouge-based First Louisiana Insurance has been acquired by Texas-based insurance and financial services firm Higginbotham.
Fort Worth-based Higginbotham has offices in 10 states and is ranked as one of the largest brokers in the country. The First Louisiana Insurance merger will mark the company’s second Louisiana location, after it acquired a similar firm in Bossier City earlier this year.
Higginbotham’s announcement says it is strategically expanding its footprint and increasing its service capabilities by partnering with other independent agencies that “have strong reputations in their local markets.”
First Louisiana Insurance was founded in 1980 by Jack Harless and has nine employees who sell property, casualty and liability insurance coverage, along with employee benefits to small and middle market companies. Harless has been named a managing director for Higginbotham and will continue to oversee operations in Baton Rouge. See the announcement.
