Seven Capital Region businesses were selected to participate in Louisiana Economic Development’s annual Diversity in Entrepreneurship Initiative, comprising nearly half of the 15 companies selected for the program intended to accelerate growth for minority- and women-owned companies.
Alfaro Bros Concrete Construction of Gonzales, Audio Appliance Experts of Geismar and Germ Slayers Cleaning and Maintenance Solutions of Donaldsonville were selected along with four Baton Rouge companies: LAP Services, Leroy’s LipSmack’n Lemonade, Louisiana Internal Medicine and Pediatric Associates, and The Royal Treatment.
The participating firms, located throughout the state, are considered second-stage businesses with 10 to 99 employees that are poised for further growth, often spurred by selling products and services in out-of-state markets.
The program kicked off on Nov. 14 with three days of retreat-style meetings in a virtual setting. Using a blend of content, dialogue, strategic research and peer learning, the program seeks to understand specific challenges to growth and to identify solutions for scaling each business.
Graduates of the program will become members of the LED Growth Network, which consists of nearly 700 companies that employ more than 22,600 employees and generate over $4.2 billion in annual sales. See the list of companies from LED.
