East Baton Rouge Parish in June collected about $17.9 million in sales taxes, not counting taxes on vehicle sales, which is 14.3% higher than the same month last year, according to the city-parish.
The city-parish collected more than $97.1 million through the first half of this year, which is almost 14.5% more than at the same point last year.
Collections increased by more than $1.47 million from May to June, the city-parish report shows.
Collections were up about 16.4% inside Baton Rouge and just over 12% outside the city limits over the first six months of the year.
Vehicle sales have slowed since April, when vehicle sales tax collections were more than double that of April 2020. However, the city-parish still collected about 36% more in June than the previous June and almost 31% more in the first half of this year than during the first six months of last year.
