Businesses, consumers poised to suffer if railroad deal isn’t reached 

Consumers and companies could see higher gas prices, longer shipping times and shortages of some products during the winter holiday season if railroads and all of their unions can't agree on new contracts by an early-December deadline that has already been pushed back.
