Baton Rouge has once again been ranked among the nation’s Top 10 Digital Cities for its population size by the Center for Digital Government, marking the 11th consecutive year the city-parish has earned the distinction.
Baton Rouge was the only Louisiana city recognized in its population category. Other midsized honorees this year include Alexandria, Virginia; Scottsdale, Arizona; Frisco, Texas; and Columbia, Missouri. The awards were presented Nov. 19 in Salt Lake City.
Officials say the ranking reflects Baton Rouge’s continued investment in building a more modern, data-driven local government. Over the past year, the city-parish relaunched its Red Stick Ready emergency app; expanded the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center; and worked to remove barriers to broadband expansion while increasing public access through the East Baton Rouge Parish Library system.
