Research says this quality is key for entrepreneurial success


    While brains, grit and charm may be well-known traits people relate to success as an entrepreneur, Inc. reports that new neuroscience research suggests there is one key ingredient for success in entrepreneurship that is often overlooked—cognitive flexibility. 

    Cognitive flexibility is the mental equivalent of physical agility. Where an agile athlete can change their direction or speed in an instant, a person with cognitive flexibility can change their thinking quickly in response to changing circumstances. 

    Cognitive flexibility is also the skill that allows people to switch tasks while multitasking and to transfer knowledge learned in one domain to others. 

    The most successful serial entrepreneurs have cognitive flexibility in spades, according to a new study from Belgian researchers.
