New Shell station planned for S. Acadian Thruway, near St. Joseph’s Academy

A new Shell gas station and convenience store is being planned for the corner of South Acadiana Thruway and Broussard Street, near the campus of St. Joseph’s Academy.
The timeline for the store isn’t finalized, but owner Gurdic Singh Dillon says construction should start sometime next year. The gas station will be “upscale,” similar to a RaceTrac.
Already an owner of several other gas stations in the area, Dillon says he was drawn to the location because a nearby Circle K closed and a Chevron is small with limited convenience store options.
He purchased the property last month from Jeff Cobb, who owned and operated an auto shop on the property, for $735,000.
