According to data from the CDC, Louisiana has one of the highest levels of flu activity so far this season. Here are the best ways to protect yourself and those around you:
- Get the flu shot.
- Control the spread of germs. Wash your hands often. Cover your mouth with your elbow when you sneeze or cough. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid being near someone who is sick.
- Keep your immune system strong–eat well, get plenty of rest and reduce stress.
If you have flu symptoms–congestion, fever, headache, fatigue and dizziness–see a doctor. If you do become sick, stay home so you don’t infect others.
