Apricot Lane, a boutique in the Mall of Louisiana, is moving two doors down and expanding into a larger space that was vacated earlier this month when apparel retailer Aéropostale closed its children’s store, p.s. by Aéropostale.
Apricot Lane, which opened its Mall of Louisiana store in 2009, will spend about $30,000 renovating the 2,700-square foot new location, according to a permit application filed with the East Baton Rouge Parish Department of Public Works.
Store manager Kelly White says the new space is more than 50% larger than the store’s existing location and will enable the boutique to offer more merchandise and add dressing rooms. Construction should be completed by mid-April, White says.
Apricot Lane has another Baton Rouge store in Jefferson Plaza, at 7543 Jefferson Highway. Its other Louisiana stores are in Lafayette, Houma, Mandeville, Metairie and New Orleans. The company, founded in 1991 and franchising since 2004, is headquartered in California and has about 85 locations nationwide. It specializes in apparel, jewelry and accessories for women.
While p.s. by Aéropostale is no longer in business locally, the juniors and young adults apparel store, Aéropostale, remains in operation at the mall.
