Health Tip of the Week: You’ve changed – so has HRT

Sponsored by Baton Rouge General Medical Center

If “hormone therapy” still reminds you of scary headlines from the early 2000s, take a breath – a lot has changed. Today’s HRT uses lower doses and more natural, body-matching hormones, often delivered through patches or gels that can lower the risk of blood clots. Timing matters too: starting within 10 years of menopause or before age 60 is generally safer and more effective. And there’s no one-size-fits-all plan. Your provider will look at your symptoms, history, and goals to find what works for you. Curious? It may be worth a second look.
