Health Tip of the Week, sponsored by Baton Rouge General: What every man needs in his medicine cabinet

Many men who live alone have never bothered to stock their medicine cabinets, so here’s a list of over-the-counter medicines and tools every man should have at home. For a headache, fever, or cramps, you’ll want a pain reliever on hand. Keep a couple of different types like acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin). Cough medicines and anti-nausea medicines are good to have around. An antibiotic ointment like Neosporin or bacitracin will help prevent infection of minor cuts and burns and hydrocortisone cream can reduce swelling and itching from bug bites and poison ivy. Make sure to also get a thermometer, bandages, and rubbing alcohol to cover your bases. Learn more about how to stock your medicine cabinet.
