The lone Krispy Kreme location in Baton Rouge, at 5504 Plank Road, was sold to SunTrust NLIP—whose parent company is Atlanta-based corporate and investment banking firm Truist Securities—for $2.9 million in a land deal filed Monday.

It’s unclear whether Krispy Kreme will continue to operate out of its current location. Representatives for Truist declined to comment and representatives for Krispy Kreme could not be reached.

The Krispy Kreme on Plank Road has been a Baton Rouge staple for years. After closing its doors for remodeling in 2019, the 24/7 shop reopened in May 2020 and served about 100 cars before 6 a.m. on its first day, The Advocate reported.

The property’s seller was the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp., headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and represented by Chief Accounting Officer Joey Pruitt.

SunTrust NLIP purchased the shop through DN Baton Rouge LA Landlord LLC, represented by Truist Securities’ managing director Allison McLeod.

Truist has handled other commercial real estate transactions in Louisiana, including one for Brookhaven Property Group in Baton Rouge in April 2021.
