Virus roundup …

    • More than 11,000 people in Louisiana have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week, prompting new rounds of worry from Gov. John Bel Edwards and public health officials that the latest swell of cases could threaten Louisiana’s ability to deliver health services.

    • From Nov. 4 to Nov. 11, 958 hospitals—or about 19% of the U.S. total—faced a staffing shortage. This week, 1,109 hospitals reported that they expect to face a staffing shortage, according to RouteFifty.

    • Dolly Parton is being celebrated in song—a rewritten version of her own “Jolene”—for her financial contribution to the coronavirus vaccine development. Northeastern University associate English professor Ryan Cordell posted a video on Twitter of himself performing the tweaked version of Parton’s signature song, renamed “Vaccine,” that has drawn tens of thousands of views, WBRZ-TV reports.
