Roundup: University Lakes update / Mississippi River bridge / Congressional award  

    Restoration project: Gov. John Bel Edwards and Mayor Sharon Weston Broome will join University Lakes Project partners to share an update at 1:30 today on the restoration of the six lakes surrounding LSU’s campus. The project’s first phase is now fully funded and construction will begin this summer. Get more information about today’s update. 

    Open house: The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is hosting six open house events to discuss where a new Mississippi River bridge could be constructed, the first of which will take place today at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. During each open house, DOTD representatives will provide information to the public about the 10 possible alternative routes being considered and collect public comments..     Top tier: Kelsie Tillage, a junior at Southern University Laboratory School, has earned the honorable Gold Medal Congressional Award, according to The Washington Mail. This medal is the highest honor a young civilian can achieve through the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. This program recognizes initiative, service, and achievement in ages 14-24.
