Roundup: Riverboat casinos / Madisonville barge manufacturer / Bossier City

    Cash out: Baton Rouge’s riverboat casinos continued to report year-to-year declines in revenue. All three casinos brought 13.8% less in March than the same month 2018, according to the latest report from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. The Belle of Baton Rouge saw a 39.3% drop in revenue to $3.2 million. Hollywood Casino fell 7.1% to $4.6 million and L’Auberge Baton Rouge was down 7.8% to $14.7 million. Read the full report.  

    Back to life: Arcosa Marine will invest $7.5 million to reopen its idle barge manufacturing operations in Madisonville, with a goal of beginning customer deliveries later this year, according to 10/12 Industry Report. A division of Dallas-based Arcosa Inc., the company will install new equipment and complete facility. The company is a leading manufacturer of barges for inland waterways, and will produce multiple barge types at the Madisonville site. The plant is located off La. 21 along the Tchefuncte River.     Golden years: Bossier City, of all places, has been selected as a top retirement destination by Where to Retire magazine, according to an announcement from lieutenant governor’s office. Bossier City will be highlighted in an “8 Veteran-Friendly Cities” feature in the May/June 2019 issue, because it makes retired veterans “feel at home” with the Barksdale Air Force Base and many amenities for retired veterans.
