Roundup: PAR forum / Urban Congress / Baton Rouge Zoo

    Debate: The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana is hosting a Gubernatorial Candidate Forum on Thursday from 1:45 to 3:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge as part of its annual conference and luncheon. Gov. John Bel Edwards and Rep. Ralph Abraham will be at the forum, but Eddie Rispone will not attend due to a prior engagement. PAR President Robert Travis Scott will moderate.

    Collaborative pursuit: The Urban Congress on African American Males is hosting its fourth annual General Convening, on Saturday at the McKinley Alumni Center. From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event’s theme—“The Village Renewed”—is attributed to the continued pursuit of partnership and collaboration in the work of transforming social systems that negatively impact African-American males in Baton Rouge. Gov. John Bel Edwards will be a featured speaker.

    Honored: BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo FrogWatch USA Chapter was awarded the Louisiana Wildlife Federation’s Conservation Organization of the Year for 2018 in the Annual Governor’s State Conservation Achievement Recognition Program conducted by the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, BREC announced. This awards program recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses that make contributions to the cause of conservation. FrogWatch USA was created in 1998 to help track the populations of amphibious wildlife.
