Roundup: Industrial Emergency Services / September hiring / Business travel 

    Acquisition: Gonzales-based emergency response training and services firm Industrial Emergency Services LLC today announced it has acquired Broussard-based Air Safety Systems LLC, a safety equipment rental company. Air Safety will retain its management team, spearheaded by Michael Gerbert in Broussard, but with support from IES’ administrative and business development groups.  

    Private-sector jobs: Companies shook off worries over the coronavirus delta variant and hired at a faster-than-expected pace in September, according to the latest report from payroll processing firm ADP. CNBC reports that private jobs rose by 568,000 for the month, better than the Dow Jones estimate from economists of 425,000 and ahead of the revised 340,000 reading in August.     Slump: U.S. hotel owners are bracing for another quarter of sluggish business travel, hoping that this year’s surge in leisure travel can carry over into the fall and holiday season, The Wall Street Journal reports. Hotel data and analytics firm STR is projecting that about 1 billion U.S. hotel rooms will be booked this year, up from 829 million in 2020, but still below the record year of 2019, when guests booked 1.3 billion rooms.
