Roundup: Hollydays is back / Leadership Baton Rouge / Merck COVID drug

    Festive fun: Hollydays, the Junior League of Baton Rouge’s annual holiday market fundraiser, is returning to the Raising Cane’s River Center for an in-person event after a pandemic hiatus. The market will run from Oct. 13 to Oct. 16, starting at 9 a.m. Get more information. 

    Apply now: The Baton Rouge Area Chamber today announced that applications for the 2022 class of its Leadership Baton Rouge program are now open. Applications will be accepted until midnight Oct. 31. The program curriculum seeks to train and promote high achievers for leadership positions in the community. Apply online here.  

    New treatment: Drugmaker Merck said this morning that its experimental COVID-19 pill reduced hospitalizations and deaths by half in people recently infected with the coronavirus and that it would soon ask health officials in the U.S. and around the world to authorize its use. If cleared, the drug would be the first pill shown to treat COVID-19, a potentially major advance in efforts to fight the pandemic.
