Roundup: Businesses urge election certification / Board of Regents / New Walk-On’s

    Pressuring Congress: Almost 200 of the country’s top business leaders urged Congress to certify the electoral results for President-elect Joe Biden in a letter today, arguing that “attempts to thwart or delay this process run counter to the essential tenets of our democracy,” The Washington Post reports. Signers included a wide array of executives of Fortune 500 companies, from the leaders of banks, airlines, investment firms, pharmaceutical companies, professional sports leagues, real estate conglomerates, top law firms and media companies.     Back on board: Collis B. Temple III has been reappointed to the Louisiana Board of Regents by Gov. John Bel Edwards. Temple is a national sales director and agency owner at Primerica and will represent the 6th Congressional District. The Board of Regents coordinates the efforts of the state’s 33 degree-granting public institutions in addition to LSU and Southern University agricultural centers and Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Edwards also reappointed Entergy Louisiana CEO Phillip R. May Jr. and appointed for the first time Stephanie A. Finley  and Judy A. Brown to the board.
