Roundup: Bogie’s closing / Louisiana tourism / Moon rock research 

    Eviction notice: Bogie’s, a popular bar just south of LSU on East Boyd Drive, will close its doors Saturday, WAFB-TV reports. Mike Butler, who owns the property, served an eviction notice on the current operators of the bar, giving them five days to vacate the property. The notice says the lease was terminated due to failure to pay rent. Read the full story. 

    Visitors: A recent feature on Louisiana destinations by travel website Thrillist touts Baton Rouge and Lafayette as the “real” places to find Louisiana culture. “Whether you’re looking for gators, crawdads, or characters, getting out of New Orleans and heading to Baton Rouge and Lafayette brings you face-to-face with the local culture,” the author writes, after recommending visitors eat at Elsie’s Plate and Pie.  

    Unsealed: Nine U.S. research teams selected by NASA will receive varying amounts of moon rocks that have been sealed away for decades. Collected during the Apollo missions, the rocks will be used to learn more about the surfaces of other planets like Mars and Mercury, but they have to be carefully unsealed so that nothing is lost.
