Roundup: 225 GIVES / BREW Lightning Talks / US productivity 

    Last call: The deadline is today for nonprofits to register for the 225 GIVES fundraiser event. The campaign, launched by the Capital Area United Way and Baton Rouge Area Foundation, will take place Dec. 1. The organizations hope to raise $4.2 million that day for area nonprofits. Already, more than 145 organizations are registered to participate. All 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the Capital Region are invited to take part in 225 GIVES.     Bite sized: As part of Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week’s 10th anniversary event, dubbed BREW 10, NexusLA today announced a new programming feature called Lightning Talks, which will be a series of five-minute talks from individuals who are selected following a simple application process. Lightning Talks participants should be involved in the Louisiana entrepreneurship community and passionate about a specific idea, innovation, concept, technology, or trend that will be of benefit to BREW 10 attendees and participants.     Pace slows: U.S. productivity increased between July and September, but at a slower pace than in the previous quarter. Productivity advanced 4.9% in the third quarter, following an even larger 10.6% surge in the second quarter, the Labor Department reported this morning. Labor costs fell by 8.9% after rising by 8.5% in the second quarter. Read the full report.
