City Group Hospitality has announced Rory Wingett will serve as executive chef for the Rouj Creole restaurant, opening in the former Applebee’s in Perkins Rowe later this month.
Wingett has worked at the Cannes Film Festival and was previously a sous chef under Chef Ryan Andre’ at City Pork.
Wingett says Rouj Creole will serve a mix of dishes from around the world with a Creole flair. Guests can expect a lively atmosphere, coupled with table-side preparations.
City Group Managing Partner Stephen Hightower said in March that he plans to hire 35 to 40 people to staff the restaurant. Hours of operation, though not official, will likely be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends, with the possibility of a Sunday brunch.
The restaurant interior will allow for different dining experiences, Hightower said, like private rooms, booths, a centralized bar, and a chef’s table that could either be used for communal dining or reserved for a private party.
