LSU No. 4 among Best in College Sports

LSU’s top sports teams powered the university to a fourth-place finish in CBS Sport’s annual Best in College Sports awards, behind the University of Michigan, University of Kentucky and Oklahoma University.

The CBS weighted system bases its scoring on the success of football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and two “wild card” sports, effectively a program’s two other highest-finished sports. Football and men’s hoops are given a greater scoring emphasis over women’s basketball and the other two sports.

LSU received a score of 465.75 points for its athletic season, the last with Joe Alleva as the programs athletic director. LSU came in eight places above No. 12 Alabama and beat out more than 120 other colleges in its ranking. Despite not winning a national title over the course of the year, Michigan (501.75 points) earned the honor of Best in College Sports.

Previous winners of CBS Sports‘ Best in College Sports award include Louisville in 2013, Stanford in 2014, Ohio State in 2015, Oklahoma in 2016, Florida State in 2017 and Ohio State again in 2018. See the full rankings.
