Port Allen LNG plant acquired by Houston company

Houston-based Stabilis Solutions Inc., an energy transition services provider, today announced it has acquired the HR Nu Blu Energy liquid natural gas production facility in Port Allen.

Built in 2018, the facility has a production capacity of 30,000 LNG gallons per day, which will increase Stabilis’ total nameplate production capacity by approximately 30%, the company says. Stabilis says it will be able to sell all of the facility’s capacity immediately with contracts from its existing customers.

The Port Allen facility currently supports North America’s largest LNG-powered offshore service vessel fleet in Port Fourchon. Stabilis CEO Jim Reddinger says the acquisition will expand the company’s production further into the Gulf Coast region, and allows it to take advantage of the growing LNG marine bunkering market across the U.S. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
