Roundup: LABI board appointments / Local lawyer awarded / Energy predictions  

New chair: LABI, at its annual meeting today in Baton Rouge, formally announced its officers and board of directors for 2019. Sonia Pérez, president of southeast states for AT&T, will serve as the organization’s chair for 2019. Terry Baugh, chief financial officer of D&J Construction Company Inc., was named the board’s vice chair. Tom O’Neal, president of O’Nealgas Inc., and Christel Slaughter, CEO of SSA Consultants, will serve as secretary and treasurer, respectively. See the full list of board members.

Shining star: Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson today announced attorney Danielle Borel will be recognized by the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section with an Emerging Young Lawyers in Healthcare Award at the 20th Annual Emerging Issues in Healthcare Conference in March. Borel is being recognized for a broad range of achievement, vision, leadership, and legal and community service in health law.

Predictions: The U.S. Energy Information Administration said today that it expects the U.S. to pump 12.4 million barrels of crude a day in 2019 and 13.2 million barrels a day in 2020, topping 2018 levels. The January average was 12 million barrels a day, up 90,000 from December. Most of the increase is expected to come from Texas and New Mexico. Read the full story.
