Rouses Markets, the Louisiana grocery store chain, on Monday announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 10 Winn-Dixie locations in Louisiana and Mississippi from Winn-Dixie’s parent company, Southeastern Grocers. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
One of the 10 acquired stores is in Baton Rouge: the Winn-Dixie on Joor Road.
The other Louisiana stores are in Covington, Destrehan, Franklinton, Gramercy, Kenner, New Orleans, Mandeville and Marrero. The lone Mississippi store is in Hattiesburg.
All of the stores will have been converted into Rouses locations by early 2026, according to a statement from the grocer. Each store will be remodeled over the course of the “next few years,” and current employees are being encouraged to stay on board.
Southeastern Grocers recently announced it would rebrand as The Winn-Dixie Co. in early 2026 and refocus its efforts on its home state of Florida. As part of that realignment, the firm is selling off its stores outside of Florida.
