    Growth in Rapides: Plastipak Packaging Inc., a global designer, manufacturer and recycler of plastic packaging containers, on Tuesday announced a $53.8 million, 200,000-square foot expansion of its Rapides Parish manufacturing facility. The expansion will add warehouse space and up to five new production lines while also streamlining operations. The project is expected to be completed by Q4 2026, and the company is expected to create 15 new jobs. Read more from Louisiana Economic Development.

    The curious case of the missing cypress board: Former Louisiana House Speaker Clay Schexnayder turned himself in to special agents in East Baton Rouge Parish on Monday after being indicted on Nov. 12 on felony charges related to the alleged theft of a rare state artifact. The artifact in question is a historically significant cypress board that dates back to the 8th century A.D. and was harvested from the Maurepas Swamp. The artifact went missing from the state Capitol and was last seen at Schexnayder’s legislative office in Gonzales. Felony theft in Louisiana is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $50,000, or both. Read more from Louisiana First News.

    Extra time: The registration deadline for the current round of Louisiana Fortify Homes Program grants has been extended to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, due to the national Cloudflare outage on Tuesday morning. The original registration deadline was 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Through a lottery system, the LFHP provides grants of up to $10,000 for homeowners to upgrade their roofs to standards set by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety.
